Thursday in Paradise

Getting past the time change is always Ricky's first task. He woke up at 2:30 am and his body said "time to get this day started." He let me sleep in later by spending some quiet time on the balcony which  I appreciated and got the day off to a more pleasant start for me.

Ricky took this picture of the full moon over Lanai in the wee hours of the morning.

I got another picture of the same view after the sun came up.

We had first breakfast at The Regency Club then visited the big breakfast buffet at Sonz.
We love sitting on this patio and listening to Hawaiian music and watching the birds while we eat pineapple!

This was our breakfast companion! He was hoping to share Ricky's carrot muffin.

Sitting on the terrace watching the ocean waves.

I'm so happy the penguins are doing well and still living here!

The flowers in the lobby are as beautiful as ever. This hotel feels like a good friend and being back is so pleasant and comforting.

Pool time! Paw Paw in his happy place.

I took a short walk on the beach. The beach has eroded and has a steeper incline down to the water than I remember. The wind was still up and the wave action significant.

We visited the club again for a cold drink and snack since we planned an early supper. I got some fruit and peanut butter while Ricky sampled the cookies.

There's an R2D2 vacuum roaming the lobby! I want one! Ringo would love it!

We took the free Ka'anapali Trolly to Whaler's Village this afternoon. It still picks up every 20 minutes and makes getting to the shopping and restaurants quick and easy. The wait down at the pick up spot was very hot though. (Not as hot as Texas, I'm sure!)

We tried to eat at Leilani's but it was underwhelming. Their menu changed and they forgot to keep the fish tacos and avocado taco I always get.

Ricky ordered the coconut shrimp. He wasn't impressed with the quality. I ordered a vegetable plate and got this interesting creation of raw vegetables and hummus. That carrot freaked me out.

Then the waitress delivered a different plate, saying they accidentally brought me the hummus platter instead of the vegetable plate. The slaw was good. Topped with pineapple, Yum! I have to admit I was thinking red beans, mashed potatoes,  and fried okra when I said "vegetable plate."

I confess, I bought an egg salad sandwich at the ABC Store and scarfed it down back at the hotel.

                     View from our table

Leilani's lobby. I love the wooden decorations hanging from the ceiling..

I scored a dashboard hula girl at the ABC Store for Maui Girl!
