Taking It Easy

Our Friday started with lots of sunshine and the sound of ocean waves.

Ricky woke up in the wee morning hours again and an uninvited pain in his shoulder prohibited more rest. He took some Tylenol and his day started way too early.

             Lots of pineapple for breakfast

                 Our view at breakfast

This guy is a hoot! He keeps angling for some breakfast.

After breakfast Ricky retired back to the room to try to get some sleep. I explored the hotel and enjoyed a long walk on the beach path down "resort row."

The hotel is decorated with all kinds of Asian artifacts. I think this dude holding his eyebrows looks like something straight out of a science fiction flick!

I stopped by to check on the penguins

                Flowers on the beach path

Disturbing signs of rising sea levels

            Modern shipwreck on the beach

Moloka'i in the distance wearing a head dress of clouds

Tiki head totem and yoga on the lawn

                      Red flag warning

                       Outrigger canoe

I walked from our end of the beach down to Whaler's Village.  It was a very enjoyable stroll. This is a fabricated whale skeleton.

Resort row as I call it is one resort after another, each with manicured lawns and landscaped with flowering shrubs, lounge chairs, and cabanas and connected by a flagstone pathway running parallel to the beach.

Marriott Ocean Club cabanas facing the water.

I went back up to the room and found Ricky on the balcony. We walked down to Umalu's (the pool bar and restaurant) for lunch.

                Lemonade for a hot day!

I opted for a vegan cheeseburger in paradise! Ricky is holding out for supper since we're eating early.

A sweet lady, Lee, picked us up in her Maui Pleasant Taxi and took us to Lahaina for our dinner date.

                   Kimo's on Front Street!

We arrived early. Rico Jacobs from NYC and a Yankees fan was our talented mixologist.  I broke my rules and had one Mai Tai because, well, it's Kimo's.

Yellow boat cruising out on Lahaina harbor. There were a lot of boats out on the water.

Ricky got the prime rib with a glass of cabernet and he was so pleased!

I had their vegetarian entree, an interesting dish of mushroom and spinach ravioli with roasted beets. A little too fancy for me.

Ah, but then there was the Hula Pie to finish off the meal. Decadent and delicious, we relished the experience.

Third Maui sunset brought our Friday to a close.
