Monday Part 1

We had a Manic Maui Monday planned so it was up and early. "We're burning daylight boys!"

A quick breakfast at the club. No pineapple served today!! I was sad and made do with cantaloupe but it wasn't the same.

                  Another Maui postcard

Ricky was first in line at the Hertz rental desk in the lobby.

Look what we got! A red Dodge Charger! Vroom Vroom!

We were on the road right after 8 am. Maui is an island of extreme contrasts. Dry desert landscape to rain forests to beaches with palm trees.

Dry desert on the left and blue Pacific waters on the right.

We reached our destination an hour early and thankfully they let us go ahead and start our tour. The Maui Ocean Center has a series of aquariums and displays highlighting the marine life and culture of Hawaii.

The aquariums were breathtakingly beautiful. My pictures don't even come close to capturing how stunning they were.

                          Sea anemone

                             Moorish Idol

                          Cleaning house

My favorite- the sea turtle. They only had two in the display.

We walked through the tunnel and were surrounded by fish.

                        Sharks overhead!

This magnificent creature was really large.

                     Upside down jellyfish

              These jellyfish seemed to glow

This fish was shiny and almost looked metallic.

One section of the tour was devoted to ancient culture and artifacts they found on the island of Kaho'olawe.

I love the concept of "the navigator chair."

The best exhibit was the last one. We arrived just in time for the show.

This sphere is a rotating theater that surrounded us with images and sound. We saw an amazing 3D movie on humpback whales. It was so real it seemed I could reach out and touch one.

I was very impressed with the ocean center. It was certainly worth seeing!
