Here We Go Again

It's that time again! We left for Maui last year on July 12th. This year we're flying out on July 13th, but our journey started today. We got as far as the Hyatt Place at ABIA.

This year's trip has started from a really different place. Last year it was all about Covid and the Hawaii Safe Travels Program. Covid is still a thing, but this year there has been so much more.

Let's start with the broiling hot weather that is baking us all down into a puddle of hot mush. Then add back breaking inflation!  Then add in all the things that have broken at our house in the last 6 weeks or so: the AC in our bedroom, the well shutting itself off spontaneously and inconveniently,  our shower that only spews boiling hot water, the remote control on the front gate that stopped working for no reason. And don't forget the replacement of the septic tank drain field in April that resulted in a yard full of rocks.  At least I got to see the planets align in June for all the good that did us here on Oatmeal Creek.

Ah, now's time to cheer up and get ready for another trip to our Happy Place and forget the trials and tribulations of life for a while! No more time for Poor Poor Pitiful Me! Time to get in vacay mode and shift down to sea level with visions of smiles, blue water, hula girls and lots of pineapple!

I started off my day with a mani pedi at this place in Liberty Hill! A much appreciated Mother's Day gift from my sweet Mickie girl! I went with Lychee Peachy, a nice tropical color!
Ricky had to drive to Creedmoor this morning for a pre-board meeting, so it was work before play for him this morning.

Emma did a great job on my Grandmaw toes! There was a group of us senior ladies getting pedicures this morning so I felt right at home.

We dropped Ringo and Honey B off at the Pets' Hotel in Cedar Park and drove away with pangs of guilt. They were so excited to go for a ride and go inside, then crushed to find out they weren't going to Maui too. 😭

We were both starving, so we got one last fix of Mexican food at Baby A's on Stonelake. We have a memory here. Back in the day they refused to serve us more alcohol after we had a few purple margaritas. We were just youngsters then. We're much older and wiser now I promise!

That "I'm going to Maui" grin!

This is our first time to stay at Hyatt Place at the airport. The points that paid for our room was too good a deal to pass up. We usually stay at The Hilton.

What!? No crown!? The devil and a monkey pox curse on the lot of you!
He tried Knob Creek but it was too sweet. He made do with Maker's Mark. He says the Paw Paw Juice here sucks. He did manage to drink it though.

Oh Happy Day! On July 2nd Ricky purchased my new ride "Maui Girl." I'm hoping to score a hula girl at the ABC Store to hang from the rear view on this trip! 😉

Supper was cheese pizza and lemonade in the room. We had showers and it's early bedtime. Ricky has alarms and wake up calls set for 4:30 am for our 8:40 am flight. The airport is only a few steps away but with all the news of chaos, long lines, and delayed or cancelled flights, we aren't taking any chances.

Sweet dreams of the blue water on Ka'anapali Beach!
