Sunday Funday

Good morning! We woke refreshed and ready for another fun day on Maui.

I uploaded some videos of our early morning fun.  Please check them out on my YouTube channel link here.

                   Postcard from Maui

                       Yoga on the terrace

I took a stroll around the Hyatt Residences next door.

Landscaping and keeping the grounds immaculate is an everyday chore.

Hyatt Residences are condos that are time shares and short term rentals.

We caught the Lahaina shuttle at 10:27 to go do some shopping in town.

The shuttle dropped us off at the Outlets of Maui mall. I followed Ricky to Front Street as he blazed the trail. It felt like a very long, hot walk to our destination.

I spotted this sculpture in an art gallery on Front St.

         Sign welcoming sailors downtown

Ricky found a stool at Down the Hatch and he was set while I shopped.

I love The Banyan Tree. She feels ancient and wise. She has spread out her roots and grown to cover almost the entire city block. See a short video here.

We met this nice couple from Orange County having some Lahaina Sunshine.

After some shopping at The Wharf, I downed a Dinosaur Burger and fries at Down the Hatch.

I left Ricky at DTH and headed out for more shopping.

Front St. has an art gallery on every block it seems.

I spotted this cool car parked in front of the ABC Store.

                  Mick Fleetwood's place.

You can get a Dali or a Picasso here.

                    Chinese museum

I got some fun Christmas ornaments here. We had decided before we left home we were going to get a Christmas tree ornament instead of refrigerator magnets this year. It was buy three and get one free, so you know, I left with four in hand.

Oh to be one of the cool kids and have a yatch moored in the marina.

                       The sign says it all

             Ocean view from Front Street

Taro plot on the grounds of the Lahaina Library. This is a school project.

                           More taro

Check out the handle bars on this bike. The rider must have Inspector Gadget arms.

I happened upon a surfing competition for teen boys behind the library. A large crowd of onlookers was gathered to watch the young surfers

The crowd from a distance. They were blaring loud music from the Hurley gazebo. It felt much like a little league baseball game back home.

I finally made it back to Ricky after a long hot walk. He made friends with a young lady named Cody who claimed to be descended from Buffalo Bill Cody and Davy Crockett. She had quite the pedigree.

We called Maui Pleasant taxi and got Lee's husband, Mai. He took us to Whaler's Village and we made our way to Monkeypod to hang out until dinner. We met this nice lady, Sunni, who told us a sad and romantic tale. She and her husband traveled to Maui many times, and when he died she brought his ashes here. She continues to come back because they enjoyed Maui so much together.  I admire her courage.

After an hour at Monkeypod and an awesome pizza appetizer, Mushroom with truffle oil, and a salad, we scuttled our dinner plans at Hula Grill and called it a night.  At 4:30 we were on the Ka'anapali Trolly and headed back to our hotel.

We were super hot and tired after a long day in town and so glad to be back in our cool room with lots of ice water.

Unfortunately,  Ricky had technical problems with the television which resulted in several visits from maintenance and a new TV which still didn't fix the problem. Ugh. He was able to watch baseball before bed so it wasn't an epic fail.

Another fun day has passed. If only we could slow down time.
