Westin Maui on Ka'anapali Beach

This place is over-the-top beautiful. The first glimpse took my breath away. We arrived at 11 am and check-in is officially at 4 pm. I was frustrated we had to wait until 3 pm to get in our room, but it gave me a chance to look around.

Standing at the hotel front desk looking toward the lobby.

Flamingos in the water.

Waterfall.

Ricky with one of three exotic birds in the lobby.

Koi fish.

Relish Bistro where we had lunch. I had a really good quinoa and kale salad.

Statue of a turtle with a dragon head. There are many decorations in and around the hotel that are Asian influenced.

View of the beach from the walkway by one of the five swimming pools. That is the island of Lana'i in the distance. It is 98% owned by Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle.

Orchids and waterlillies.

The walkways around the pools are beautifully graced with flowers and vegetation of all kinds.

Wood carver on the beach.

Macaw

Cockatiel

Exotic flower at the check-in desk.

We finally checked in at 3 pm. Our room is large and very comfortable. This is the view from our 3rd floor balcony. We can see Lana'i to the left and Moloka'i to the right as we face west. People live on Moloka'i but it is undeveloped for tourism.

Dinner at The Monkeypod restaurant at the nearby Whaler's Village. There are many restaurants and shops located here, and it is just steps from our room.

Ricky had macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi. His favorite meal of the trip so far.
Macadamia nuts are commercially grown in Hawaii.

Folks, I have been lucky enough to see some beautiful things in my lifetime, and this  sunset was one of them.  I don't have words for how breathtakingly beautiful it was.

Last rays of sunlight as seen from our balcony.
