Our Greek Odyssey - November 2023

 Prelude

We jumped on the chance to book this Viking Cruise like ducks on a June bug. We had travel fever "hotter than a pepper sprout" a few months ago when we said "I do" to the Viking rep. I knew it would be a push, right on the heels of the Texas Counseling Association Professional Growth conference and right before Thanksgiving, but okay, we're doing it. Mickie and I got back last night and she drove on home to San Angelo. I feverishly unpacked and started the laundry.   Ricky and I both woke up at 3:22 am this morning. We pretended to sleep for another hour, but it didn't fool anybody. Even Ringo was barking in his crate. We were hovering around the coffee pot by 4:30. Running on fumes and adrenaline - we started grinding the gears to the travel machine well before daylight.

We're excited, keyed up, apprehensive, and eager to experience a part of the planet we haven't seen before. I'm traveling with a sense of accepting a challenge, grateful for this opportunity,  and hopeful this trip will be an amazing experience.

We scurried around, tended to all the last minute details, and about 1 pm we gathered up our bags, loaded Ringo and Honey B into the big white truck, and made the familiar trek to the Hilton at ABIA.

                 Ricky's sporting a new cap

It's always an emotional goodbye for Honey B. "I promise I'll be home again in a few weeks, baby dog. "

Lunch at Baby A's. We needed a good          Mexican food fix before leaving Texas.

We got to see UT beat Kansas St. in overtime. Hook 'em!

The Hilton is our spring board for every adventure. I really love this hotel. I just wish it had better food and some live Texas music.

Waiting in the check in line

There was a military intelligence ball happening at the hotel. Lots of party dresses and dress uniforms!

It was an early bedtime for us. And thank goodness we don't have an early morning flight. For the first time ever!
