We had planned to go back to Maui in September 2023. The tragic and catastrophic fire in Lahaina changed our plans. We are heartbroken the Lahaina we love is no more.
This vacation is a pivot- if we aren't going west, then we'll go east. In a way, it's a tribute and throwback to all the beautiful Caribbean trips we have made since we married. We wanted to visit an island we haven't been to before. Turks and Caicos doesn't have a Sandals- but does have a Beaches Resort. So, here we go again!
We are optimistic about the weather, given there is a major Catagory 4 storm - Hurricane Lee - barreling toward the Lesser Antilles as I write these words. I kind of marvel at how casual we seem to feel about any possibility of danger or inconvenience. We must be desperate enough for island time to play the odds.
We're starting out on Friday, September 8, 2023. Joy and Tanner's 22nd wedding anniversary. Congratulations to them!
It is so very hot and dry in Texas. The land is broiled beyond well-done at the end of this hotter-than-ever summer. I have gazed at the Beaches Resort website and drooled on the pictures of crystal blue persuasion. Swimsuit and sunscreen packed!
We took Ringo and Honey B to the PetsHotel in Cedar Park and I choked down the same guilt I feel every time. Those pleading looks from betrayed eyes haunt me for at least a few hours. Then off to a late lunch.
We stopped at one of Ricky's favorite eateries on N. Lamar, Tam Deli.
Lemon grass beef and vermicelli
It's four o'clock and Ricky's headed down to the bar for Paw-Paw juice.
