We woke up before the alarm went off. Ricky at 2:42 am and 5:22 for me. We were out our door about 6:05. We pulled our suitcases across the resort to the lobby in the rain and the taxi showed up at 6:30 as planned. We planned to get coffee and breakfast at the airport, which did not go as planned.
Lihue Airport gets two thumbs down for food. The restaurants don't open until 10 am. Guess early travelers are punished for leaving Kauai!
Waiting for our taxi in the rain.We waited in this line for a while until Ricky figured out how to get our boarding passes and luggage tags from the kiosk. Then everything went real quick.
The flight to Maui was a hop, skip, and a jump. We got there in what seemed like a blink of the eye. Maui is quite a contrast to Kauai. So dry!
The lobby is an open air concept
Checking in. We arrived about 10 am and found out our room wasn't ready yet. We were prepared to wait until 4 pm, but luckily our room was ready in less than 2 hours.Sand art in the center of the lobby. You have to look close to see the lettering and picture of a flower. Some small children ignored the sign not to mess it up and started playing in the sand.
We took the free shuttle over to the shopping center nearby to kill some time and eat lunch while we waited for our room. There are a variety of stores-Tiffany &Co., Gucci, Prada, Luis Vuitton, Rolex to name a few. I found some great bargains! 🤣
We ate at Tommy Bahama's. I didn't know they cooked! I thought they just made clothes!
Entrance to the shopping center
So this feature of our room is interesting. The shower is the length of the room. It's big enough for a family reunion. All of our families and our dogs could get in there together!
The hotel has a resident artist whose work is very whimsical.
The beach has umbrellas and chairs. That is West Maui in the distance.
The pool at the bottom of the hill and closest to the beach.
View from our balcony. We can see Lana'i and Kaho'olawe in the distance. Molokini crater is visible in front of Kaho'olawe. There is good snorkeling there. We have a wall completely glass for an unimpeded view of ocean. Beautiful!
Dinner was at Ka'ana KitchenRicky had the big eye tuna. I don't know what I had but it was good for fancy food. A sweet potato butternut squash creation.
Interesting statue indeed... looked like someone being dragged with a rope or chain of some kind but I guess it could be something else. Definitely unusual! Great Photos Sis!! Thanks for sharing it all with us! Ah! That sunset...
