Kauai Day 3

We had an early start to the morning, as usual. Ricky slept well and felt much better this morning. We headed down to breakfast about 7.

                   We ate at Ilima Terrace.

There are stairs everywhere in this resort.  Ricky found the elevator to take us back up to the lobby.

               The view was spectacular.

Ricky ate the Loco Moco and fresh pineapple. He was very pleased.  I enjoyed the buffet.

After breakfast I explored the resort and took a short hike, then joined Ricky in the pool.

The resort grounds are resplendent with flowers and vegetation.

I decided to hike up to the top of the big rock at the end of Shipwreck Beach.  I had no trouble getting up there, but got turned around when trying to make my way back down. Some friendly folks put me back on the right trail and saved the day. Otherwise I might still be walking in circles, lost in the woods!

Another red flag day on the beach.

Some local folks were fishing from the top of the rock.
Looking back at the resort from the top

These people were searching for something in the rocks. I did see some crabs scurrying around in the rocks.

                            Ironwood tree

                        Beach chickens

                  Badass Hawaiian rooster

I never thought of sea shells as a weapon until I saw this dagger.

These small black lizards are everywhere.

I asked to go to town to shop and we planned to eat. We got a taxi into Poipu, about 2 miles away. We went to The Shops at Kukui'ula which was recommended. Both of the big restaurants were closed until later, and neither had openings. Everything was booked up for weeks.

We settled for this casual place, Savage Shrimp.
Ricky had garlic shrimp, which gave him a stomach ache. 🤢😔

Shopping center chickens. A momma hen and her brood. Instead of pigeons,  Kauai has chickens.

The night ended early. Ricky never overcame the stomach upset caused by his garlic shrimp lunch. My supper was another egg salad sandwich.

Another beautiful day on this island paradise.
