We enjoyed a cup of coffee on the balcony while listening to the early morning sounds of ocean waves.
We went down to Reflection's for the last breakfast. This unattended fire seemed hazardous, but no one was hurt. The cook eventually returned.
This nice gentleman made me a delicious omelet and cooked Ricky's eggs to order.
Breakfast of Champions
I needed one more beach walk
Baby gecko
Iguana Pool
This video is the walk from our building, past Iguana's Pool, down to Grace Bay Beach.
Wearing my T&C Gecko t-shirt.
Saying goodbye to Room 325
I was relieved to find the departure section of the airport was much more modern than the arrival section. We were faced with a very long line to get through security. Everyone was leaving all at once.
Surprise! The gift shop where we grabbed snacks and water.
The rest of our trip home went smoothly. We got back to Austin about 9:30 pm. We overnighted at the Hilton.
Oh Happy Day on Sunday to reunite with Ringo and Honey B. Homecoming party of tacos in the truck.
Prayers of Thanksgiving for rain while we were gone and a safe "there and back again."
This place has some things in abundance- sunshine, water, food and drink, opportunities to walk. We took it all in today.
Today, like every day, started with coffee in our room. This Jamaican Blue is wonderful. I priced it at the gift shop. $56 a pound. 😳
Breakfast at the buffet at Mario's. Another food trough of choices.
Ricky had an omelet he customized
I really like the vaulted ceilings and castle-like decorations.
As we sat waiting for De Bus, I checked out all the advertised island tour opportunities.
This desk is set up at the entrance to the Italian Village
Pirate lore
Our first stop after breakfast was back to the room to change. Then down to Iguana's Pool to get wet. From there we struck out adventuring.
We stopped by The Dive for a drink, then down to the beach.
Ricky identified these as plovers looking for sand fleas to feast on.
After the beach we took a hike up the Italian Pool, moving toward the Pirate Island waterpark.
Continuing our walk to the water park
You can see The Lazy River in the background. We made two trips. 😄
Ice cream!
The grown-ups were flocking around the Curls and Swirls ice cream truck.
From the water park we ambled over to the pool in the French Village. Then I made a trip back to our room for more sunscreen and Copenhagen.
After a few hours at the pool in the French Village, we walked back to eat a late pizza lunch at Bella Napoli. Then more time in Iguana's Pool.
The Street Party was the "big ting" tonight.
We checked it out and decided to go to a calmer place to eat. It was hopping with loud music and a large crowd.
We caught a golf cart ride and headed down De Tunnel to Key West Village.
I'm amazed they dug a tunnel under the Italian Village to create a shortcut.
We landed at Bayside Restaurant for the buffet.
Ricky didn't have an appetite, but I enjoyed my meal and sunset view.
Interesting dessert. Omani. It was an apple dumpling dish.
Croquant choux. It was good. No idea what it was though.
We would have loved to hear this live music with the ocean waves in the background. But a wedding party nearby was blasting music. They won the unfortunate battle of the bands.
We both got a much needed good night's rest and woke up feeling better this morning. The weather is beautiful. I wanted something different for breakfast, so after negotiations we hitched a golf cart ride over to Schooner's for breakfast. Then we sat on the shore to enjoy the ocean. The waves are still pretty vigorous, but the winds are calmer and the sky is blue. I think Lee has moved past us.
Balcony view from our room
This nice young man, Junior, took us one at a time to Schooner's. He told me he was from Haiti and had lived here and worked for Beaches for 6 years.
View from our hotel lobby
Feeling pretty! Might eat a big breakfast!
View from our table
Smoothie bowl and pastry basket for starters
Eggs over medium, hashbrowns, ham, blueberry pancakes. The food was good, service a bit slow. It gave us more time to enjoy the ambiance.
Beach hangs
We saw many parasails
I finally spotted a mermaid!
I bought a handmade ceramic magnet to support this local artist.
Ricky really really misses his recliner. He says this chair is very uncomfortable.
We decided to go get in the water about midday. Ricky went to the Iguana Pool and I went to the beach. I stopped at The Dive for liquid refreshment on my way.
At sea level
I did a double take when this Hut came sailing by. They were moving really fast
They got closer and I realized it was. mounted onto a pontoon boat.
Grace Bay Beach is public, so one has options. This local was selling coconut drinks with pink umbrellas. He pulled his ice chest up and down the beach.
This picture doesn't show it well, but the waves off shore where the water turns dark blue were pretty big. They were really rolling in. The red flag was still up today.
I just can't get over how beautiful this Beach is. No filter. Sugar white sand and blue water. I searched for signs of marine life, but saw only a few birds.
We finished up the afternoon in Iguana's Pool and talked about all the places we would like to go someday.
Dinner was at Mario's. This turned out to be one of our favorite meals
Antipasto buffet
I had spaghetti marinara
Steak for the Daddy
Some kind of dark chocolate heaven with almond ice cream.
I'm sitting on our balcony taking in all the evening sights and sounds. The sun is setting. I can hear ocean waves, people laughing and talking, music playing. The air is cool and soft. I'm grateful for a beautiful day on this island.
