LAX to Honolulu

It seems our vacations always include at least one morning of getting up at the crack of dawn to catch an early flight. This trip is no exception. We were up at 4:15, after a mostly sleepless night. Doors slamming, traffic noises, room too warm, guests fighting in the hall. Sleep just wasn't happening.

Early riser. Ricky actually turned on the lights at 3:52 this morning. 🤣

Yep, still dark-thirty!

We were all down in the lobby waiting on the shuttle by 4:45. It arrived quickly to whisk us back to LAX,  terminal 2. We found short lines and an efficient, if somewhat unfriendly group of TSA agents. We were all checked in and at our gate by 5:35 for a flight leaving at 7:40. Time for breakfast at SeaLegs, the eatery right by our gate.

Getting help at check in. Too early to figure out complicated stuff.  :)

This nice, friendly waitress served Matt and Shana and Ricky and me a delicious breakfast. Jon and Jennifer opted for giant breakfast burritos from a nearby restaurant.

Long wait.

Leaving Los Angeles behind, we headed west over the Pacific and towards the islands.

Our flight was smooth and uneventful. 5 hours and 23 minutes in the air. We watched movies and played games on the inboard entertainment. We tried to nap, but weren't very successful.

First glimpse of Oahu at the airport.

The limo wasn't waiting on us, so we waited for it!

We waited for about 5 minutes before he pulled up.

Welcome and aloha!

A stretch limo and orchid leis! Going in style!

Pulling up to the Sheraton Waikiki.

Check in.

Balcony view from our room.

Late lunch at The Edge. It showered on us, and we didn't even care!

Pineapple smoothie!

Sailboats in the distance.

Andersons in the infinity pool.

Looking toward Diamond Head.

We called it an early night. 7:30 Hawaii time is 11:30 at home. I found an egg salad sandwich and doritos at Lawson Station, a gift shop in the lobby, to bring up to the room for supper. Ricky skipped supper entirely. We're hoping for a good night's rest to be fresh tomorrow for our Pearl Harbor Tour.
